Lock Time, Rate, and Charge
R.O. Writer added a new setting in Smart Job configuration that enables you to lock the Time, Rate, and Charge of the labor operation the Smart Job is based on. When the job is posted, the labor overall is unlocked; however, the user cannot change the Time, Rate, and Charge fields.
Edit Smart Jobs Settings
The Edit Smart Job window includes a Lock Time, Rate, and Charge box in the Lock Status section.
When Lock Time, Rate, and Charge is selected, everything related to catalog labor in the Smart Job is permanently removed and the Labor Guide section is disabled.
Catalog labor can change the time on the labor posted to a ticket, which could be different than the base labor operation’s time. Therefore, you cannot include catalog labor in a Smart Job where you want to check the Lock Time, Rate, and Charge box.
NOTE: If you click Cancel at this point, the Labor Guide items are still deleted from the Smart Job.
How Lock Time, Rate, and Change Works on Posted Labor
When a package price job with Lock Time, Rate, and Charge checked is posted to a ticket, the package price is set to the labor operation’s charge if the labor operation’s charge is greater than the Smart Job’s package price.
When you open the Edit Labor window, you cannot modify the Time, Rate, and Charge fields.
The following fields are locked and disabled because they would update the Time or Charge of the labor, which is locked:
- Elapsed Time
- Elapsed Time button
- Calc Time, Charge, and No Calc
- Split Evenly checkbox in multi-technician
NOTE: If the Override button appears (because the Smart Job is locked), clicking it does not unlock these fields.
When you try to change the amount of the Package Price below the labor charge, a message appears stating the Package Price cannot be lower than the charge.
The workflow is similar to the flow of a package price job when the Apply Package Adjustments to Parts setting is applied. Price adjustments are taken from the part total before changing the charge of the labor.
