Oil Sticker Configuration

R.O. Writer can print stickers for windshields that show when the next oil change should occur.

NOTE: Oil stickers require a special label printer; the Zebra TLP 2824 Plus is recommended.

Configuring Oil Stickers

To configure oil sticker printing, you need to

  1. Format the oil sticker.
  2. Set the labor operations and Smart Jobs that need to print oil stickers.

Formatting the Oil Sticker

Click Configuration menu > Oil Sticker. The Oil Sticker Configuration window opens.

The following table describes the items on the Oil Sticker Configuration window.
Item Description

Shop Information

The shop information appears at the top of the label. You can

  • Enter your shop name, address, and phone information in the fields provided.
  • Click the Copy button to insert the shop information contained in your license information. Your license information is what appears at the top of printed estimates, repair orders, and work orders.
  • Click the Reset button to replace the shop information with the factory default information. Use this option only under the direction of R.O. Writer Technical Support.

Comment and Position

The oil sticker will print the text you enter in the Comment field in the location you select in the Position dropdown list.

It is common to print something like "Your Next Visit is Due" at the top or your company's slogan at the bottom.

Prompting

The Prompting setting determines how oil stickers print when finalizing a repair order that contains a labor operation or Smart Job configured to print oil stickers.

  • Never Print - Oil stickers never print during finalize.
  • Prompt Before Printing - You are prompted to print the oil sticker during finalize.
    • The prompt is the Print Oil Sticker window.
    • You can modify some content on the Print Oil Sticker window before printing.
  • Always Print - The oil sticker prints as designed and configured automatically.
    • There is no prompt where you can modify the content.
    • The sticker starts printing immediately.

Margin Adjust

You can adjust the margin when printing oil stickers. Enter a value between -100 and +100 to adjust the margin.

  • -10 Margin would look like this on the label:

  • 10 Margin would look like this on the label:

Print Next Service Due

Select this option to print the Next Service Date on the sticker.

You can enter the default number of months and miles.

If the defaults are left blank, the months and miles will be 0 and you are prompted to enter the months and miles when an oil sticker prints.

Print Last Serviced Date

Select this option to print the current date and mileage on the oil sticker.

Test

Click this button to print a test sticker from the printer assigned to print oil stickers.

Print Options

When selected, the text prints on the oil sticker. Checking the Small Font box will print the text in a small font size.

Orientation

These options adjust the text vertically or horizontally.

  • Portrait default values:
    • Margin adjust = -60
    • Top margin=40
  • Landscape default values:
    • Margin adjust = -50
    • Top margin=80
  • Default landscape default values:
    • Margin adjust = -10
    • Top margin=-20

Rotate or UnRotate

180 degree rotation Default: Rotate

Darkness

Set the darkness level:

  • 0 = light
  • 7 = medium
  • 10 = default

  • 15 = darkest (recommended)

Top Margin

This is used to move text up and down in the respective style.

Configuring Labor Operations to Print Oil Stickers

You can set labor operations to print oil stickers. When the labor operation is set to print oil stickers, an oil sticker prints automatically when a repair order that contains that labor operation is finalized.

To Configure Labor Operations to Print Oil Stickers

Complete these steps:

  1. In the Configuration module, click Configuration menu > Labor > Operations.
  2. Select the Category that contains the labor operations that you want to print oil stickers.
  3. Select the Operation.
  4. Check the Oil Sticker checkbox The oil sticker checkbox..
  5. On the window that opens, enter the oil type as you want it to appear on the printed oil sticker.

    If Oil Type is left blank on the labor in Configuration,

    • The Oil Type entry will be blank on the printed oil sticker when it is printed automatically after finalizing the repair order.
    • The Oil Type field label is red and the field is blank on the Print Oil Sticker window that opens when you print manually or are prompted to print on finalize.

    • You can type in the oil type before printing or leave it blank.
      • If you leave the Print Oil Sticker blank on the Print Oil Sticker window, the Oil Type line will be blank on the printed oil sticker.
  6. Click OK. The labor operation is now set to print oil stickers.

NOTE: Setting a labor operation to print an oil sticker does not apply when the labor operation is used in a Smart Job. In that case, you must set the Smart Job to print an oil sticker as well.

Configuring Smart Jobs to Print Oil Stickers

If you use Smart Jobs or Smart eJobs for oil changes, you can set those jobs to print oil stickers.

Even though Smart Jobs and Smart eJobs build on labor operations, you must set the Smart Job to print oil stickers. If the labor operation is set to print oil stickers but you do not set the Smart Job to print oil stickers as well, no oil sticker will print for the Smart Job.

To Configure Smart Jobs to Print Oil Stickers

When the Smart Job is set to print oil stickers, an oil sticker prints automatically when a repair order that contains that Smart Job is finalized.

Complete these steps:

  1. Click the Configuration menu > Labor > Smart Jobs.
  2. Select the appropriate Job Category.

  3. Select the Smart Job and click the Edit button. The Edit Smart Jobs screen for the selected Job Category opens.
  4. At the bottom left of the screen, check the Oil Sticker box The oil sticker checkbox..
  5. On the window that opens, enter the oil type as you want it to appear on the printed oil sticker.

    If Oil Type is left blank on the labor in Configuration,

    • The Oil Type entry will be blank on the printed oil sticker when it is printed automatically after finalizing the repair order.
    • The Oil Type field label is red and the field is blank on the Print Oil Sticker window that opens when you print manually or are prompted to print on finalize.

  6. Click OK. The Smart Job is set to print oil stickers.
