Using Payment Tokens

Merchant Partners First Mile allows you to save customer payment tokens. A payment token is a placeholder for credit card information that allows you to keep payment information on file for repeat customers.

Payment Token Process

A payment token is a file with placeholder information in the database with a token ID. The customer's account information is stored in an encrypted format at the Merchant gateway. No credit card information is processed, stored, or retained on your local machines. All transactions occur at the Merchant gateway.

When you chose to pay with a payment token,

  1. R.O. Writer logs into the Merchant gateway with the payment token.
  2. The Merchant gateway uses the token ID to access the correct, encrypted account information.
  3. The transaction is processed on the Merchant gateway.
  4. The results of the transaction are sent back to R.O. Writer in an encrypted format.

Payment Tokens for Approved Credit Card Applications

When a customer’s credit application is approved, R.O. Writer stores a payment token for that credit card automatically. As a result, you can finance the repair immediately.
