Mileage Options
The mileage options here determine how you want to gather mileage information and where it displays.
Mileage In/Out
These options determine how mileage information displays on the
- Vehicle tab of the Edit Vehicle window.
- Vehicle section of the Parts/Labor tab.
Use Mileage Out Only
If this option is selected, only the mileage out - the mileage after all services have been performed - displays.
Use Mileage In/Out
Two separate mileage fields for the vehicle display: one for Mileage In and one for Mileage Out. The mileage when the vehicle came in and the mileage when the vehicle was picked up.
When this option is selected, you can choose to
- Prompt for the mileage when opening a new ticket or when finalizing the repair order.
- Print mileage in and out.
When Opening New Repair Orders/Estimates
If the person preparing the repair order does not readily have the vehicle mileage, the tendency is to put in an incorrect number. Therefore, it’s best to prompt them for it when they are already entering the most important information like the VIN.
When the Prompt for Mileage in When Opening New Repair Order/Estimate option is selected, a prompt appears for the mileage of the vehicle when a new repair order or estimate is opened.
- Leave Mileage in Blank - The Previous Mileage displays but the entry field can be left blank.
- Keep Current Vehicle Mileage - The Previous Mileage displays and is also defaulted in the mileage field.
You can (and should) enter the current mileage in the prompt.
When Finalizing Repair Orders
When the Prompt for Mileage Out When Closing Repair Order option is selected, a prompt appears for the mileage of the vehicle when finalizing the repair order.
- Leave Mileage Out Blank - The Previous Mileage displays but the entry field can be left blank.
- Keep Current Vehicle Mileage - The Previous Mileage displays and is also defaulted in the mileage field.
You can (and should) enter the current mileage in the prompt.
Warn if No Mileage
In this section, you decide how to handle blank Mileage fields.
- Select No for no warning if the mileage is blank.
- Select Yes to warn if the mileage is blank. You can continue without entering the mileage.
- Select Require to warn if the mileage is blank. You must enter the mileage.
Printing Repair Orders/Estimates
This option is only available when selecting the option Use Mileage In/Out.
You can select the option Print Mileage In/Out in vehicle information and/or the option Print mileage In/Out in body of document.
The following example is when both options are selected.
The next example is when neither option is selected. In the vehicle information, only the mileage out is printed.
