Database Selection Wizard

When R.O. Writer cannot connect to the database on launch for reasons other than the application version, the Database Selection wizard appears.

This window enables you to select another database or open Data Locations where you can change the database connection information.

The following table describes the items on the Database Upgrade wizard.

Item	Description
Current Store	Current Store displays the store name of the database R.O. Writer is trying to connect to on the server.
Message	This message explains why R.O. Writer cannot connect to the database.
List of Databases	The list in the middle of the window displays all configured store/database connections on this machine. The first store/database in the list is the same as the Current Store. You can select another store/database and click OK. If R.O. Writer can connect to that store/database correctly, R.O. Writer opens using that database. If the middle of the window is blank, it means either No other stores/databases are configured OR R.O. Writer cannot retrieve enough information to display that information.
Manage Stores button	The Manage Stores button opens the Setup Stores window where you can modify the database selection and settings. The Manage Stores button is disabled if R.O. Writer cannot retrieve enough information to open Setup Stores.

To Select Another Database

Complete these steps:

1. When the Database Selection window appears, review the information on the window.

2. The store/database connections configured for the machine appear.

3. Select a database other than the Current Store database at the top of the window.

4. Click OK. R.O. Writer tries to connect to the selected database. 
   • If R.O. Writer can connect, R.O. Writer opens displaying information in that database.
   • If R.O. Writer cannot connect, the Database Selection wizard or Database Upgrade wizard appears.

To Modify the Database Connection Information

You can open Setup Stores to check and correct the database connection information.

Complete these steps:

1. Click the Manage Stores button if it appears and is active. The Data Locations window opens.

2. Click the Setup Stores button. The Setup Stores window opens displaying all store/database connections.

3. Open the store/database.

4. Verify the connection information.

5. Edit the connection information.

6. Click OK, then OK again to save changes.
7. Launch R.O. Writer again.
   • If the new information is correct, you can launch R.O. Writer.
   • If the new information is incorrect, one of the wizard windows opens.
