Launching R.O. Writer
R.O. Writer goes through the same sequence every time you launch. You may be prompted to complete certain actions or wait as items process.
The launch process checks to see if the following functions need to be completed before you can use R.O. Writer:
- Software upgrades
- File updates
As each check either passes or completes, R.O. Writer automatically moves to the next step. When the launch process is complete, the main window appears.
To Launch R.O. Writer
Complete these steps:
- Click the R.O. Writer desktop icon
. R.O. Writer begins to launch. -
The launch window appears.
- R.O. Writer checks to see if a software upgrade is available.
- If an upgrade is available, R.O. Writer prompts you to upgrade. Click Yes to upgrade to the new version.
- If not, R.O. Writer proceeds to the next step.
- R.O. Writer checks to see if a file update is available for the current R.O. Writer version.
- If so, R.O. Writer begins loading the file updates. A progress bar appears on the launch window.
- If not, R.O. Writer proceeds to the next step.
- R.O. Writer checks to see if your R.O. Writer license matches the R.O. Writer version currently launching. When the version numbers match, R.O. Writer continues launching.
NOTE: If this is the first time R.O. Writer is launched after an upgrade, R.O. Writer begins updating your license from the launch window.
- R.O. Writer then checks to see if the software version in your database matches the software version.
- If the version numbers match, R.O. Writer proceeds to the next step.
- If the version numbers do not match, a prompt appears and you cannot launch R.O. Writer.

If R.O. Tray is not running in the background, R.O. Tray launches and the R.O. Tray launch screen appears.
NOTE: R.O. Tray launches only when the R.O. Writer main module launches.
- The main window appears.
