File updates are any files required to fix, enhance, or enable features in the current version of R.O. Writer installed.
Every time you launch R.O. Writer, the file update check occurs after the software upgrade check to see in case a new version of R.O. Writer requires file updates.
- If there are no file updates, R.O. Writer continues launching.

If there are file updates, R.O. Writer sends all files to the correct folders on the hard drive. A progress bar appears to show you the progress.
The update process may occur so quickly that it appears only as a flash on the launch window.
When the update is complete, R.O. Writer continues launching.
Sometimes the file update cannot load during launch. R.O. Writer will continue to launch normally. The next time you launch R.O. Writer, the files may load successfully. If not, you can try to resolve the error.
