Editing Part Records from the Browse Window

The Edit section in the lower right corner of the Browse window allows you to add inventory records or open the inventory record highlighted in the table.

NOTE: You cannot add or edit inventory records in the row. The Add and Edit buttons open the Inventory window.

Editing Inventory Records

The lower right corner of the Browse window provides access to both adding and editing inventory records.

To Edit Inventory Records

If you have a security level on View/Add/Edit in Configuration, that security level applies when you try to edit inventory records. You must enter a password to continue.

Complete these steps:

  1. On the Browse window, either
    • Double-click on the part in the list OR
    • Select the inventory record in the list and click the Edit button.
  2. If prompted, enter a password and click OK.
  3. A prompt appears notifying you that you are now in Edit mode.
    This means that you can add and edit inventory records until you either close Browse or uncheck the Enable Edit box.
    Click OK on the prompt.
  4. The highlighted inventory record opens in edit mode.
  5. Modify the information in the inventory record.
  6. Click Save to save your changes. The Inventory window closes.
  7. You can continue to edit inventory records without being prompted until you disable edit mode.

NOTE: The changes appear on the row in Browse if the changes you made to the inventory record are included as a column in the list.

To Enable Edit Mode

You can also use the Enable Edit checkbox to enable and disable edit mode. In edit mode, you can add and edit inventory records until you either close Browse or uncheck the Enable Edit box.

Complete these steps:

  1. Click the Enable Edit checkbox before clicking the Add or Edit buttons.
  2. The prompt appears notifying you that you are now in Edit mode.
  3. Click OK on the prompt.
  4. You can now add and edit inventory records without being prompted.

To Disable Edit Mode

You can disable edit mode at any time by unchecking the Enable Edit checkbox. This means the next time you try to add or edit an inventory record, you will be prompted.
