Labor Categories
Labor categories are services your shop routinely performs like oil changes. You define labor categories and then put Labor Operations in them. This helps you categorize and track the jobs performed in your shop regularly.
R.O. Writer comes with some labor categories already defined. You can modify these categories, add your own, or inactive them depending on the kind of work your shop does.
Take some time to think about how your shop operates, decide what categories make sense for you, and then create those categories here.
Adding Labor Categories
Complete these steps:
- Click the Add button.
- Enter the Category Code (up to three characters).
- Type in a descriptive name (like "Brakes").
-
Click Save. The new information saves.
To add another labor category,
- Click the Clear button, then the Add button.
- Repeat Steps 2–4.
- Click the Close button to close the window.
Deleting Labor Categories
You cannot delete labor categories, but you can make them inactive by checking the Inactive option for R. O. Writer.
Inactive labor categories
- Cannot be selected anywhere in R.O. Writer, except when editing labor categories on this window.
- Are included in reports to retain historical accuracy.
