Comparing the Old and New Browse
The most important difference between the old Browse and the re-designed Browse in R.O. Writer 3.0 are summarized in the list below:
-
Custom Reports (also referred to as "Layouts") - Custom Reports have been replaced by Working with Views.
WARNING! Check Inventory Browse before printing any custom reports! If you used any custom layouts for printing or reporting, you need to
1) check the default views in R.O. Writer 3.0 to see if they meet your needs and
2) create custom views that match your old custom layouts if needed. - Parts on the Browse window - The old Browse window opened displaying all inventory records. The new Browse window opens displaying the inventory records included in the Top Stock View (Default).
- You can create your own custom views.
- You can also set one of your custom views as the default view.
- Part details - The full details of the highlighted part row appear below the table.
- You can see everything about the part at-a-glance, without needing to scroll right or open that part in Inventory
- Editing parts - You cannot edit parts on the row. To edit parts in the table, you need to:
- Check the Unlock Edit box.
- Click the Edit button.
- Edit the part on the Inventory window that opens.
- Access to Inventory- Opening Browse open no longer locks other users out of Inventory.
- Other users can edit Inventory records while Browse is open.
- If you are printing views in Browse, you may want to ask everyone else to stay out of Inventory until the view is printed.
