Service Checklist

As a means of adding value to the service provided, and as a means of generating revenue, many shops perform a vehicle inspection. A vehicle inspection lets your customer know that you are trying to look out for their well being, by examining their vehicle, and these inspections may also find other needed repairs. It is much easier for the customer to have these repairs completed while the vehicle is already in the shop, and it is more cost effective for the shop to do as much work as required while the vehicle is there.

When the work order is returned from the technician, the checklist items should be completed with service recommendations. The checklist recommendations should be entered so that they appear on the repair order. Access the checklist for a repair order be selecting the appropriate repair order, and selecting Checklist (B) in the toolbar. The checklist items are the ones that were set up in Configuration (see Checklist).

The recommended services may be entered on the repair order checklist, or may be selected from the dropdown list, if service recommendations have previously been entered, either in Configuration, or from other repair order checklists.

The recommendations may be saved by checking the box in the lower left corner, Save needed services for use in other checklists.

There is also a place to enter the number of days before the service is required. The dropdown list will activate a calendar, so that a specific calendar day may be selected, and the number of days is calculated and entered.

Use the All Check button to check all items as OK or use the All X button to check all items as needing service. Click the OK button to save and exit or the Cancel button to exit without saving changes.

Checklist items are automatically entered in the list of recommended services (see Services). The next time this customer brings in this vehicle, a service reminder of checklist items pops up with the recommended service and the date the service is required.

These items may also be used to send checklist follow-up letters to the customers recommending that the services be performed (see Send Checklist Letters).
