Adding Attachments to Texts
You can attach images and PDFs to text messages. There is a limit of one attachment per text message. You can choose a file from any folder on your hard drive.
If you try to add a second attachment, you are prompted to overwrite the current attachment. To send multiple attachments, send a text per attachment.
To Attach an Image to a Text
You can attach images in the following format:
- .png
- .jpg
- .jpeg
Images in other formats will not appear on the selection window.
Complete these steps:
- Click the Text Message button in the main toolbar or the ticket toolbar .
- Above the text box, click the Attachment button . The Select Message Attachment window opens.
- Navigate to the image file’s location. Only .png, .jpg, and .jpeg files appear in any folder.
- Select the image file. The image is attached to the text.
- The Delete Attachment button appears next to the Attachment button . Click it to delete the attachment.
- Type a message in the text box. (Required)
- Click the Send button . The sent message appears in the texting history above the message box.
- A preview of the image appears below the opt-out message in the message bubble.
- Click once on the preview to open the file.
- PDFs are not saved to the Reference tab of any ticket for the customer.
- Images are saved to the C:/ROWriterData/Images folder (or the data path set in Configuration).

To Attach a PDF to a Text
You need to specify PDF as the file type when attaching an item.
Complete these steps:
- Click the Text Message button in the main toolbar or the ticket toolbar .
- Above the text box, click the Attachment button . The Select Message Attachment window opens.

In the lower, right corner, select PDF in the dropdown list. Only the PDFs in the folder appear.
- Select the PDF in the folder. The PDF is attached to the text.
- The Delete Attachment button appears next to the Attachment button . Click it to delete the PDF from the text message.
- If needed, type a message into the text box.
- If an automatic message is configured for PDFs, you do not need to type a message to send the text. The configured text is added automatically.
- Click the Send button . The sent message appears in the texting history above the message box.
- A preview of the PDF appears below the opt-out message in the message bubble.
- Click once on the preview to open the file.
Local Storage Location
When you attach an image or PDF and send it,
- PDFs are not saved to the Reference tab of any ticket for the customer.
- Images are saved to the C:/ROWriterData/Images folder (or the data path set in Configuration).
Customer Texts with a PDF Attached
When you send a PDF file, R.O. Writer assigns the file a new name and sends it to the SMS Server Address set in Texting Configuration.
The customer receives a text with a link to the PDF file. The customer clicks the link to download the PDF file to the phone.
To Delete an Attachment
After you add an attachment to the text, the Delete Attachment button appears above the text box. Click this button to delete the attachment.
