Tickets

There are several types of tickets you can create for managing customer intake and checkout in your shop every day.

Watch the video below to see an explanation of the main ticket types in R.O. Writer.

Ticket Types

R.O. Writer provides several ticket types to help you manage your business. The ticket you create depends on what you are trying to do.

Estimates

Estimates help you build a complete list of parts and labor operations required to completely repair the customer’s vehicle - including taxes and fees. As a result, you can accurately estimate the cost of repairs before the customer has agreed to have the work done.

When the customer is ready to begin repair on the vehicle, you convert the estimate to a repair order and begin work.

Estimates appear on the Estimates in Progress Window.

Repair Orders

Repair orders are a record of the parts and labor operations that were actually used to repair the customer’s vehicle. They include the parts, labor, taxes, and fees you sold. These details appear on the customer's invoice for services rendered.

Repair orders appear on the Work in Progress (WIP) Window.

Phone Quotes

Phone quotes are estimates that do not require customer or vehicle information. This makes phone quotes the ideal ticket type for giving quick quotes over the phone. When you convert phones quotes to estimates or repair orders, you are prompted to search for and select a customer and then select the customer's vehicle.

Phone Quotes appear on the Estimates in Progress Window and follow the same workflow as an estimate. The quote number begins with a “Q” to distinguish it from an estimate.

Tire Comparison Quotes

Tire Comparison Quotes are quotes that are created from tire comparisons in Tire Quote.

Tire Comparison Quotes appear on the Estimates in Progress Window and follow the same workflow as an estimate.

Parts Only Tickets

Parts Only Tickets are designed to sell parts in your local inventory. There are parts-only estimates and parts-only repair orders (referred to as "invoices"). These tickets follow the same basic workflow as estimates and repair orders.

NOTE: On parts-only tickets, you cannot add vehicles, labor, or open any of the integrated online catalogs.
