Check Your Access to Central Office

If you are a licensed Central Office customer, Central Office is now fully integrated with R.O. Writer.

• To configure Central Office, open R.O. Writer Configuration and click File menu > Central Office Setup.
• To transmit, open the R.O. Writer main window and click File menu > Central Office.

Check the Appearance of the Main Windows

Open the main window and check the appearance of the Work in Progress (WIP) and Estimates in Progress windows.

NOTE: R.O. Writer 3.0 has improved how these windows are managed, but some configuration settings may not have converted correctly during the upgrade. You may need to adjust the appearance of these windows and save new defaults.

Send a Test Email to Yourself

Send an email from R.O. Writer to yourself or someone in your business organization. Verify that the email goes through correctly.

NOTE: R.O. Writer 3.0 has implemented the latest security guidelines required by service providers and no longer corrects the port information automatically. You may need to adjust your current email settings.

Test Print Your Shop Forms

Open some tickets from the Work in Progress (WIP) and Estimates in Progress windows and print some forms. Verify that the forms print and appear as they should.

NOTE: R.O. Writer 3.0 has improved the printing process and moved all forms from the local machine to the database. You may need to adjust your custom form settings.

Update Your Transtar Interface

Before you access Transtar, you must update the interface to point to the Transend platform.

NOTE: If you used Transtar^® in a previous version of R.O. Writer, the supplier interface is currently pointed to the eSource^® platform. Transtar sunsetted the eSource^® platform and replaced it with the Transend^™ platform.

Convert Basic Word Processor Templates

If you used templates in the Basic Word Processor to send promotional material to your customers, those templates no longer work. They need to be converted to the Advanced Word Processor.

NOTE: R.O. Writer 3.0 has removed the Basic Word Processor.

New Features in R.O. Writer 3.0

The following features are brand new in R.O. Writer 3.0:

• Central Office
  • Central Office is now integrated with R.O. Writer and installs with R.O. Writer Client. If you are licensed for Central Office, you install, access, and configure Central Office in R.O. Writer.
• Inventory Browse
  • Inventory Browse has been completely redesigned. The new window is easier to use and customize to your needs.
• External Price Locking
  • You can now lock the price of outside purchases and labor from your integrated catalogs.
• New Launch Process
  • The launch process has been updated with a new launch window. The registry settings and reports files are automatically importing into the database.
• New Reports:
  • Customer List for Birthdays
  • Customer List for Vehicle Inspection Date
    • The existing Customer List has been reformatted to match the new Customer Lists.
  • Declined Services Report
  • Pricing Exception Report
• Oil Stickers with Bar Codes
  • R.O. Writer DVI Suite users can print bar codes on oil stickers. This feature requires you to re-configure oil sticker printing in the new oil sticker configuration setting.
• Printing in R.O. Writer
  • Printing documents has been standardized. You learn the process once and then use it everywhere you want to print.
• Smart Fluids
  • Smart Fluids from R.O. Writer Express has been integrated into R.O. Writer. However, there have been some important changes to Smart Fluids.
  • Smart Oil simplifies adding oil changes in Smart eCat.
• Smart Jobs Upgrade
  • Smart Jobs has been upgraded from Epicor LaserCat to Epicor PartExpert^® Data Server (PEDS).
• Tire Quote
  • You can now integrate with generic tire suppliers in addition to the direct integrations for specific suppliers.
  • Rebate, warranty, and discontinued tire information are included in the search results if the supplier sends them.
